From a residential design project in 2024.
Field Insight
Sometimes, an atmospheric change does not require new furniture or extensive alterations. What matters may be understanding how an existing object participates in the room’s overall field.
In this project, a plant pot positioned in the transition between two rooms was identified as a possible anchoring point.
Following a harmonisation of the home’s general field, a consciousness point was established in the soil of the plant pot. The point was designed to support the experience of forward movement, drive and access to new possibilities.
The plant pot was then moved discreetly towards the wall. This small shift changed both the object’s position and the direction of its shadow, giving the transitional zone a clearer spatial orientation.
From a Diffuse Transition to a Clear Direction
Following the intervention, the area was experienced as more coherent and directional.
According to the resident, the previously diffuse transition between the rooms acquired a more vibrant atmospheric quality. The threshold was experienced as easier to cross and more inviting of action and movement.
The material adjustment was minimal. Within this practice, the effect was understood through the interplay between the object’s position, the atmospheric calibration and the resident’s experience of the space.
Result
The transitional zone was experienced as a gentle and grounded invitation to move forwards.
The case illustrates how an existing object can acquire a new spatial function when its position is consciously connected with the room’s atmospheric structure.
It is not always about adding more.
Sometimes, it is about moving something only slightly and giving the surroundings a clearer direction.
Are There Untapped Possibilities in Your Home?
Transitional zones are often overlooked. Yet they connect the home’s different functions and can influence the experience of direction, movement and coherence.
A Resonance Report can offer an initial insight into your home’s atmospheric dynamics and reveal possibilities that have not yet been activated.
